Since Monday, November 13, 2023, German companies have been staying in Abidjan as part of a business trip in the water supply and wastewater treatment sector in Ivory Coast.
The trip, which ends on November 17, 2023, aims to promote capacity building of German companies in the water supply and wastewater treatment sector in Ivory Coast, to explore business opportunities and partnerships with Ivorian companies.
In this context, a conference was organized at Noom hotel in Plateau on Tuesday, November 14, 2023, on the theme “Water and wastewater treatment in Ivory Coast: business opportunities and financing models for the sector”.
The conference was an opportunity for German companies to present their projects, expand their regional engagement, and promote their know-how in the water sector to a network of decision-makers and entrepreneurs, government authorities and Ivorian sector associations.
The conference was an excellent opportunity for both parties (German and Ivorian) to establish business contacts, and generate opportunities for cooperation and technology transfer. Sylvain Usher, executive director of the African Water and Sanitation Association, was pleased to welcome this symposium.
“This activity is in line with the association’s mission which is to encourage exchanges between peers and promote partnerships as well as the sharing of knowledge. This, with the ultimate goal of improving the performance of stakeholders in the water sector and thus contributing to the achievement of the 6th Sustainable Development Goal which aims to guarantee access to water and sanitation for all, and ensure sustainable management of water resources by 2030,” he declared.
According to him, the issues of access to drinking water and adequate sanitation services are crucial. “We must all do our part to ensure that everyone has resources of sufficient quality and quantity, and benefits from sanitation systems that respect human dignity. For this reason, the Aaea remains sensitive to all cooperative actions that militate in favor of mitigating this worrying situation,” he suggested.
It should be noted that it is under the sponsorship of the Federal Ministry of the Economy and Climate Protection (Bmwk), the German water partnership e. V. (Gwp) in collaboration with the Delegation of the German Economy in Côte d'Ivoire (Ahk Côte d'Ivoire) and the African Water and Sanitation Association (Aaea/Afwasa) this business trip is organized.
