Abidjan, The Minister of Hydraulics, Sanitation and Safety, Bouak\u00e9 Fofana, launched Thursday, September 29, 2022 in Abidjan, the 21st International Congress and Exhibition of the African Water Association (AAE) scheduled for February 20 to 24, 2023 in Ivory Coast.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

This edition, which will be held around the theme, \u201cActing for sustainable management of resources and access for all to water and sanitation in Africa\u201d<\/em><\/strong> will be organized jointly with the 7th International Conference on Faecal Sludge Management (FSM7)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Mr. Fofana hoped that this congress could take another look at water management and find sustainable solutions with new technologies.<\/p>\n

He took this opportunity to invite the scientific community, professionals in the sector as well as all those involved in action for sustainable resource management and access for all to water and sanitation, to mobilize massively for the double event.<\/p>\n

The president of the Congress, the general director of the Ivorian Electricity Company (CIE)<\/strong> and of the Water Distribution Company in C\u00f4te d'Ivoire (SODECI)<\/strong>, Ahmadou Bakayoko, announced that a national committee which involves all the stakeholders in water and sanitation has already been set up five months before this major event which will bring together nearly 3,000 delegates, hundreds of exhibitors, with dozens of simultaneous sessions per day.<\/p>\n

He said he was convinced that the theme would find a favorable response among the respective departments which work tirelessly to implement both the government's social policy and the government's strategy in terms of drinking water and sanitation to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Several actions have been undertaken in C\u00f4te d'Ivoire to mobilize resources for the development of the water and sanitation sectors, particularly with regard to access.<\/p>\n

This was done through the strategic investment program for the water sector to improve its technical and financial performance, particularly on the issues of securing production and access with a three-year phase in Abidjan then within the country.<\/p>\n

At the African level, reflections and exchanges are intensifying to guarantee and jointly implement better governance of water and sanitation, which takes into account rational management of resources and means.<\/p>\n
